I am a textile designer, specialising in knitwear. I also design and deliver crochet workshops on a freelance basis, for a leading international yarn company (Rowan Yarns).
During my BA (Hons) Textile Design degree at the University of Derby, my textile design practice included knit, weave and print. I used a variety of hand-driven and industrial machinery in my work, including Dubied & Shima Seiki knitting machines, screen and digital printing and jacquard weaving.
My design projects utilised CAD skills, in particular using Shima Seiki proprietary software, Photoshop and Illustrator.
I received the following awards for my work:
- 2016 - Hill Osborne Bursary from The Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters
- 2015 - Two commendations in Knit in the Bradford Textile Society Competition
- 2014 - First Prize in Weave and the Premiere Vision Travel Award in the Bradford Textile Society Competition
- 2013 - My work was chosen for John Smedley's 'A Stitch in Time' exhibition.
